When a monster storm forces the early evacuation of the first manned mission to Mars, Damon's Mark Watney is stranded on the red planet and assumed dead. He has to use all his wits to survive on Mars, alone. The movie is not out till November 2015 so we’ll have to wait to see how the story turns out.
Matt Damon says goodbye to the earth
The Martian is one of our favorite books and it looks like the movie version is coming along quite nicely. In the video Matt Damon, playing astronaut Mark Watney, introduces us to the Ares 3 crew before they leave earth and visit Mars for the first time. It’s great to see Mark Watney calm and collected before things go bad in the story.

Empire has released three new photos from the set of The Martian, directed by Ridley Scott. Matt Damon plays a astronaut named Mark Watney who is stranded on Mars after a mission goes wrong. The movie is based on the award winning novel by Andy Weir. The book made many ‘best of’ lists when it came out last year. If the movie is half as good as the book then it’ll be great. The Martian will be in theaters November 25, 2015
