The adventures of Lars continue in this cultivation world. The story continues to be very slice of life as he fights, kills, jokes and talks a whole lot. The dialogue is a highlight, and a good portion, of the story with smart humor. If the dialogue doesn’t work for you, you may not enjoy the story as much as me. I really liked the turn the RPG progression took with the new class the main character (MC) took. It added some interesting non-combat options.

Overall, it's a good story if you appreciate the humor and the dialogue. I’m not the biggest fan of cultivation, so I won’t judge that part. But the RPG aspects appear in every chapter and there’s good progression there. I’d hoped for a bit more action and story progression, but it was still an enjoyable read.

Death's Favorite Warlock

"Kill. Kill them all." It's the first four words Lars usually wakes up to every morning as the voice in his head nags him, telling him she's just giving him a 'quest' that will help him 'level.'

But even if he wanted to do it, he can't. They're cultivators -- beings with ancestral bloodlines that have powers he could only dream of and that may as well be gods while he is stuck as a puny human.

Even if he could kill them, the people who bullied him, beat him, treated him like a punch-bag pariah for being the 'tailless worthless human' that he was to them, he wouldn't. It just wasn't in Lars's nature.

That is, until a vicious group of murderous psychopaths called a 'sect' descend on his village. The vicious group brutally kills everyone he's known his entire life, taking a select few with them as slaves.

Lars must now trust he isn't going insane and find a way to complete the voice's quests and level up, so that he can save his mother from her cruel and heartless captors in this cultivation themed LitRPG and Gamelit adventure.

Sixth Realm Part 2: A litRPG Fantasy series (The Ten Realms Book 7)

by Michael Chatfield

On to the seventh realm

I really like Michael Chatfield's books. I really really want more action in this one. The writing is good and I like the story so far. But I like cultivation. This one is slow, bouncing around again visiting lots of interesting people and showing off cool weapon systems. I can't say it was fun. Some hints late that interesting things await. In the next realm. Mostly Alva development with some Erik and Rugrat cultivating. I was thinking, where's the explosions and body count through much of the first 40% of the book.

Power up and climb the tower

A pretty exciting start for a tower climber cultivation novel. Some time at a climber academy, when he has encounters and he come back roughed up, he can always say You should see the other guy - If you can find the pieces...Still a low ranking climber. He has an OP talent. I like his female partner's pet. Off to a good start, I hope this series does well and continued. Good world and plenty of mysteries.

Dragon Heart: Land of Demons. LitRPG Wuxia Series: Book 7

Review Written by Ian Mitchell

A side mission

Still my favorite series. I like it better than the cradle series And Kirill Klevanski didn't botch book 7. Hadjar is still a smart tough guy.  I did get the feeling that his power level is exceeding the empire  he lives in. The fights were great. Hadjar's temporary orc sidekick added some nice flavor to the stew this time. Not quite as tasty as the first 6 books. Bits at the end felt like easy mode. It'll be fun seeing Hadjar back at school.
